Konuşma hedefi
Beklenmedik bir yolculuk veya iş deneyimini 2–3 dakika boyunca anlat. En az dört anlatı zamanı ve altı zaman bağlacı kullan.
Bu derste dikkat
Zaman seçimi yalnızca fiilin ne zaman gerçekleştiğini değil, dinleyicinin olayı hangi sırayla ve hangi bakış açısından görmesi gerektiğini de belirler.

Past Simple: ana olay zinciri
Özne + fiilin ikinci hâli
Past Simple anlatının ileri doğru hareket eden ana olaylarını verir.
I arrived at the station, bought a ticket and looked for the platform.
Past Continuous: arka plan ve devam eden eylem
was/were + fiil-ing
Bir olay gerçekleştiğinde devam eden durumu, atmosferi veya arka planı gösterir.
It was raining heavily, and people were rushing towards the entrance.
I was checking the departure board when someone called my name.
Past Perfect: geçmişten daha önceki tamamlanmış olay
had + past participle
Anlatıdaki başka bir geçmiş olaydan önce tamamlanan eylemi gösterir.
By the time I reached the platform, the train had already left.
Olay sırası bağlamdan tamamen açıksa Past Perfect her cümlede tekrarlanmaz.
Past Perfect Continuous: önceki sürecin süresi veya sonucu
had been + fiil-ing
Başka bir geçmiş noktadan önce bir süre devam eden eylemi vurgular.
I had been waiting for nearly an hour when the announcement was made.
She was exhausted because she had been travelling all night.

Past Perfect Simple ve Continuous karşılaştırması
Tamamlanmış sonuç: She had written three reports before lunch.
Süreç ve süre: She had been writing reports all morning.
Simple kaç işin tamamlandığını; Continuous faaliyetin süresini ve devamlılığını öne çıkarır.
When, while, as, after ve before
- when: kısa olay veya belirli an
- while/as: eş zamanlı devam eden olaylar
- after/before: olay sırası
- by the time: belirli geçmiş noktaya kadar tamamlanmışlık
While I was speaking to the receptionist, my colleague was trying to contact the airline.
After we had checked the booking, we discovered that the date was wrong.
Durum fiilleriyle Continuous kullanımı
Know, believe, understand, own ve need gibi durum fiilleri genellikle Continuous biçimde kullanılmaz.
I had been knowing him for years. → I had known him for years.
Bazı fiiller anlam değiştirerek Continuous olabilir: I was thinking about the offer.

- Ortam: Nerede ve ne oluyordu?
- Önceki durum: O ana gelmeden önce ne olmuştu veya ne kadar süredir ne yapılıyordu?
- Ana olaylar: Sonra hangi olaylar gerçekleşti?
- Sonuç ve değerlendirme: Sonunda ne oldu ve bu deneyimin önemi neydi?
I was travelling to Ankara for an important meeting. I had booked an early train because I had been preparing for the presentation for several weeks. When I reached the station, I realised that I had selected the wrong date. Eventually, I joined the meeting online, and the situation turned out better than I had expected.

Önceki olay belirlendikten sonra ana olay genellikle Past Simple olur.I had been knowing the answer.→ I had known the answer.
